The Court duly assembled at 10.00 A.M. on Monday the

28th of July, 1947, and the President read the

Warrant forming the Court and declared the Court open.

Mr. G. S. Hugh-Jones, Solicitor, informed the

Court that he was appearing in the interests of

Captain Bannerman the Master of the "HONG KHENG".

Mr. C. Y. Kwan, Solicitor, informed the Court

that he was present with a watching brief for the

owners of the vessel the Ho Hong 9.3.Co.,(1932) Ltd.

of Singapore.

The following witnesses were called and heard:-

The Court decided to admit (a) and (b) as evidence

in view of the fact that the Masters concerned were

unable to attend due to the departure of their vessels

from Hong Kong, and (c) was noted.

It was agreed that no useful purpose would be

served by calling further witness, and the President

informed all present that in accordance with Regula-

tion 5 of Table "G" of Ordinance 10 of 1899, any

person who shows he has an interest in the case

could now be heard by leave of the Court.

Two Shipmasters stated that they invariably set

a course N75E (T) from the Ninepins to a position

off Chilang Point.

The President stated that the Court would de-

liver a written judgement on Thursday the 31st July,

1947, and the Court adjourned accordingly at 5.0 P.M.

until 2.30 P.M. on that day.
